CoroMill Plura

Solid end mills

In our comprehensive range of CoroMill® Plura solid end mills, you will find your choice, whether you need a tool that is optimized for a specific material or one that performs well in many materials.

The range of tools include high performance solutions for high speed machining (HSM), die-making and high feed machining (HFM); from roughing to super-finishing in most materials, whether it is in difficult-to-cut materials or very hard steels, up to HRc 63.

Benefits

  • 2- Series: Geometries and grades optimized for a specific material and/or application, maximizing production output per time
  • 1-Series: Tools designed for high performance and secure machining in a variety of applications, component sizes, shapes and materials, allowing maximum machine utilization.

Features

  • Optimized grades for all materials and conditions
  • Variable flute depth (VFD) design for optimum core stiffness and chip space
  • Unequal helix concept for maximum stability
  • Large assortment of off the shelf standard products, with the option to order engineered solutions or through our Tailor Made concept.
  • iLock spiral groove on CoroMill Plura end mill shank is directed to pull the
tool into the chuck for absolutely secure fixturing

Application

  • Complete assortment for roughing, finishing, super-finishing, profiling, chamfering, and threading
  • The CoroMill Plura solid end mills program includes tool shapes for most operations, in diameter ranging from 0.1 to 25 mm (0.004 - 0.984 inch)
  • CoroMill Plura small ball nose end mills assortment for profiling applications in medium hard to hard steels, 35-63 HRc. Small diameters down to 0.1 mm (0.004 inch) make them suitable for all small die and mould manufacturing, where high precision is important
  • The CoroMill Plura thread milling cutter is designed for small thread sizes in diameter down to 3.2 mm (0.126 inch) and is available in two optimized grades; one with best performance with coolant and one without. The threads are milled in one pass and this multi-point tool gives a true full-profile 60° metric thread form. UNC/UNF and NPT/NPTF are available as options. Both right hand and left hand threads are available.
  • Compression end mill for composites: By combining positive and negative helix angles, the mill compresses the top and bottom of the component edge. Thereby, the risk of splintering is efficiently reduced.

Variable flute design (VFD)

The 50° helix, variable flute depth tools with differential pitch, allows for high chip evacuation and reduced vibrations, resulting in peak performance in roughing to semi-finishing applications.

  • Oversized for accessibility
  • Variable flute for maximum stability in demanding milling
Unequal helix concept

The unequal helix design gives the operation a far greater stability, resulting in reduced tool vibration, even in older generation CNC-machines. The result is excellent surface finish and increased tool life.
Unequal helix design enables:

  • Greater axial and radial depths of cut at high cutting parameters
  • Better dimensional control of the workpiece
  • Reduced chipping on the cutting edges
  • Increased metal removal rate
RPRG value for optimum thread quality

CoroMill Plura has an individual radius programming (RPRG) value marked on the shank, giving the exact pitch diameter and radius correction required for optimum thread quality.

Handling of iLock

Mounting of CoroMill Plura with iLock in shrink fit adaptor with iLock:

  1. Heat shrink fit adaptor in heating equipment, minimum 10 kW
  2. Insert CoroMill Plura with iLock into shrink fit adaptor with a rotating motion
  3. Ensure that end mill is inserted completely
  4. Cool shrink fit adaptor completely before use
