Central insert grades

​Grade GC1044 is the first choice for the central insert in all materials, except aluminium where H13A is preferred.

GC1044
   

The basic choice for central drilling inserts in all materials.
Fine-grained cemented carbide with an excellent combination of both hardness and toughness. PVD-coated with a 3-micron bronze colored TiAlN
multi-layer provides excellent edge toughness and resistance to built-up edge.

GC1144


Central insert grade for stainless steel
A fine-grained cemented carbide with good balance between toughness and wear resistance. A new PVD-oxide coating provides excellent wear resistance and resistance against built up edge in all types of stainless steels and as complementary in ISO S materials.

H13A

For heat resistant alloys, titanium and aluminium. Suitable both as the central and peripheral insert.
H13A is an uncoated and fairly fine-grained grade with good edge sharpness. Very good balance between wear resistance and toughness.

 

Peripheral insert grades

For the peripheral insert, there is a wider choice of grades because the cutting speed and conditions vary more. GC4044 is the toughest choice and GC4014 the most wear resistant.
 

GC4044

The tough all-round choice for peripheral drilling inserts in all materials.
Fine-grained cemented carbide with an excellent toughness. The carbide is PVD-coated with a 3-micron black colored TiAlN layer for improved wear resistance and resistance against built-up edge.

GC4034

A more wear resistant peripheral insert alternative to GC4044 for steel, stainless and cast iron.

A grade with very good balance between toughness and wear resistance, MT-CVD coated with special treatment, improving edge line toughness and minimizing built-up-edge formation.

GC4024

The productive peripheral insert choice for stable conditions.
A carbide substrate with a good balance between hardness and toughness, coated with a MT-CVD layer of TiCN followed by a layer of Al2O3 for high
temperature resistance.

GC4014

The peripheral insert choice for high cutting speeds at low to moderate feeds. Good plastic deformation resistance.
A hard carbide substrate with a thin cobalt-enriched gradient zone for edge toughness. On top of this is a MT-CVD layer of TiCN and Al2O3, providing very good high temperature protection, permitting high speeds.

H13A

   
For heat resistant alloys, titanium and aluminium. Suitable both as the central and peripheral insert.
H13A is an uncoated and fairly fine-grained grade with good edge sharpness. Very good balance between wear resistance and toughness.​
