This specific operation was earlier run in two passes, one for roughing and one for finishing. By reprocessing the application, using a CoroMill 245 cutter, the component could be manufactured in one pass only. New inserts – ceramics (Si 3 N 4 ) combined with a CBN- tipped wiper insert – increased the cutting data considerably and improved the surface quality.
