Boring Tools
Mounting and setting of CoroBore™ 820

There are three possibilities to set up CoroBore 820 for boring.

Productive boring Step boring Single edge boring
All three slides are set to the same diameter and height. The three slides are set to different diameters and heights.Only one slide is used.

Productive boring
For productive boring you need 1 adapter and 3 slides.

Mounting of slides

-

Clean all support faces on adapter and slides.

-

Retract the setting screws as far as possible, by turning them counterclockwise.

-

Fit slides to adapter. Stop pin on adapter must enter slot in slide.

-

Place cup springs on screws

-

Push slides as far as possible towards center of adapter and tighten screws finger tight so the slides can be easily set without tilting.

-

Setting of diameter - Tool setter

1.

Mount inserts.

2.

Place adapter in tool setter.

3.

Set desired diameter on tool setter.

4.

Rotate adapter until largest diameter is found.

5.

Lock this position.

6.

Turn setting screw clockwise until insert nose radius reaches set diameter.
Note! The setting screw can only be used for setting from smaller to larger diameter.

7.

Tighten screw, see table below.
Repeat steps 4, 5, 6 and 7 for slides 2 and 3.

Step boring
For step boring you need 1 adapter, 3 slides and 1 shim set. Total depth of cut should be divided into three equal parts for each insert/slide to keep the tool as balanced as possible.

Mounting of slides

-

Clean all support faces on adapter and slides.

-

Retract the setting screws as far as possible, by turning them counterclockwise.

-

Place shims on two of the three adapter support faces.
Note! Shims have different thicknesses.

-

Fit slides to adapter. Pin on adapter must enter slot in slide.

-

Place cup springs on screws.

-

Push slides as far as possible towards center of adapter and tighten screws finger tight so the slides can be easily set without tilting.

-

Setting of diameter - Tool setter

1.

Mount inserts.

2.

Place adapter in tool setter.

3.

Set smallest diameter on tool setter.

4.

Locate slide with the thicker shim.

5.

Rotate adapter until largest diameter is found.

6.

Lock this position.

7.

Turn setting screw clockwise until the insert nose radius reaches set diameter.
Note! The setting screw can only be used for setting from smaller to larger diameter.

8.

Set intermediate diameter on tool pre-setter.

9.

Locate slide with the thinner shim.

10.

Rotate adapter until largest diameter is found.

11.

Lock this position.

12.

Turn setting screw until insert nose radius touches set diameter.

13.

Set largest diameter on tool pre-setter

14.

Locate slide without shim.

15.

Rotate adapter until largest diameter is found.

16.

Lock this position.

17.

Turn setting screw until insert nose radius touches set diameter.

18.

Tighten Screw, see table below.

Single edge boring
For single edge boring you need 1 adapter, 1 slide and 2 covers.

Mounting of slides

-

Clean all support faces on adapter and slides.

-

Mount covers on two support faces.
Note! Covers have location pins, which have to fit into location holes in the adapter. These holes are located in between stop pin and setting pin for two of the support surfaces.

-

Retract the setting screws as far as possible, by turning them counterclockwise.

-

Fit slide to adapter. Stop pin on adapter must enter slot in slide.

-

Place cup springs on screw.

-

Push slide as far as possible towards center of adapter and tighten screw finger tight so the slide can be easily set without tilting.

-

Setting of diameter - Tool setter

1.

Mount insert.

Setting with vernier caliper

1.

Measure the diameter of setting pin.

2.

Adjust vernier caliper to required hole radius plus radius of setting pin.

3.

Set slides according to instructions above with vernier caliper over setting pin and insert radius.

Rough setting can be done with the scale on the adapter. Set the line on slide to required diameter on adapter scale. Each division is 2 mm on diameter.
