There are three possibilities to set up Duobore for boring.

Twin edge boring |
Step boring |
Single edge boring |

In twin edge boring the two slides are set to the same diameter and height. This is the basic setup for most boring applications. The feed rate is equal to feed per insert x two, fn = fz x 2. Only one insert is generating the surface. Rmax is therefore 4 times larger than fn = fz. |
In step boring the two slides are set to different diameters and to different heights – to ensure that inserts are starting cutting from smallest to largest diameter – and a shim is placed between slide and adapter. Step boring is used for large radial depth of cut and in long chipping material, where the chip width can be divided into two smaller easily handled chips. |
In single edge boring only one slide is used. A cover must be use to radially support the working slide. Single edge boring is used for long chipping material – more space for chips –, bottom holes and finishing. |

| Twin edge boring | |
For twin edge boring you need 1 adapter and 2 slides.
Mounting of slides

- |
Clean all support faces on adapter and slides. |

- |
Retract the setting screws as far as possible, by turning them counterclockwise. |

- |
Fit slides to adapter. Pin on slide must enter slot in adapter. |

- |
Push slides as far as possible towards center of adapter and tighten screws finger tight so the slides can be easily set without tilting. |

| Step boring | |
For step boring you need 1 adapter, 2 slides and 1 shim. Total depth of cut should be divided into two equal parts to keep the tool as balanced as possible.
Mounting of slides

Clean all support faces on adapter and slides. |

Retract the setting screws as far as possible, by turning them counterclockwise. |

Place shims on one of the two adapter support faces. |

| Single edge boring | |
For single edge boring you need 1 adapter, 1 slide and 1 cover.
Mounting of slides

- |
Clean all support faces on adapter and slides. |

- |
Mount cover on support face.
Note! Covers have location pins, which have to fit into location holes in the adapter. |
