CoroBore® 825/826 

Both have the same coupling design between cartridge and cross slide, with an elliptical male/female part taking up tangential forces and a face part taking up radial forces.

  • A conical shank gives a straighter hole at long overhangs, regardless of which chuck is used
  • For a cylindrical shank, the best straightness is generally given by short overhangs
  • Choose conical solid carbide for overhangs up to 6×D
  • Choose heavy metal shanks for best stability and reduced vibration tendencies at short overhangs

Recommendations

  • Choose a light cutting insert with a positive geometry for the best surface finish and close hole tolerance
  • First choice recommendation is the light cutting knife edge geometry (L-K) with nose radius 0.2 mm (0.008 inch)
  • Choose a small nose radius to minimize vibrations and cutting forces
  • Choose a nose radius smaller than the depth of cut
  • Wiper inserts can be used at high feeds under stable conditions to increase workpiece quality and productivity levels
  • Always adjust from a smaller diameter to a larger diameter to avoid backlash
  • Unlock locking screw before the adjustment, tighten afterwards
  • Use Coromant Capto® coupling for excellent repeatability and stability
  • Use CoroChuck® 930 for boring tools with cylindrical shanks for best pull-out security
