Silent Tools™ Plus

Stable turning with real-time insight

Internal turning often involves long overhangs, where vibration and limited process visibility make optimization difficult. Silent Tools™ Plus combines damping technology with integrated sensors to deliver real-time insight that improves stability, predictability, and machining control.

  • Access real-time vibration and process data
  • Monitor machining behavior during operation
  • Support data-driven process optimization

Silent Tools™ Plus

Become more efficient

The connectivity of Silent Tools™ Plus is available for operators through a digital dashboard with data directly from inside your component.

Silent Tools™ Plus benefits
access_time

Shorten setup times

The center-height setting function displays the level of the cutting edge, allowing operators to quickly and easily set the center height of the insert to the correct level. The result is better machining performance and longer insert tool life.

Improved decision-making

Knowing what is happening inside slender components is a challenge when performing internal turning. By displaying on a dashboard whether the tool is cutting, the operator can easily monitor the machining, reducing the time the machine runs without the tool cutting.

The Silent Tools™ Plus vibration sensors will detect machining issues at an early stage, helping you take action in your daily work.

Better utilization of equipment

The temperature of the damping system is displayed on the Silent Tools™ Plus dashboard, enabling operators to monitor the system for heat damage.

Quick change interface

The new quick-change interface between adapter and cutting head has been developed for easy handling and optimized machine utilization. It enables quick, accurate cutting-head changes.

How to apply connected technology when machining deep bores

Set up the tool quickly and correctly

A properly mounted tool reduces the risk of undersized holes that require rework but also improves the cutting performance of the insert to ensure maximum tool life. The Silent Tools™ Plus center-height indicator helps the operator set up the tool more quickly and more accurately.

Manage tool load during machining

When cutting with a long, slender bar, the visible bending of the bar may appear excessive, and it is easy to decrease cutting data, resulting in increased cycle time. Knowing the actual load will ensure that you are within the acceptable load range of the tool, maintaining or even increasing material removal rates, productivity, and reducing costs.

Increase automation with machine tool integration

Silent Tools™ Plus provides automated protection against load, vibration, deflection, and temperature in machines equipped with CoroPlus® Connected. The sensorized cutting solution rapidly triggers mitigating actions through the machine interface when problems and deviations are detected. Data-driven, automated decisions ensure quality and reduce waste, such as scrap and the need for rework. Automation reduces operator dependency, frees operator time, and enables unmanned operation.

Process data analysis

Use cutting data to detect deviations, compare processes, and optimize run-in and production quality.

User interface and cutting data management

The CoroTurn® Plus user interface supports both live monitoring and post-process analysis of cutting data. Cutting signals are recorded automatically during machining and stored as individual recordings, enabling comparison, anomaly detection and batch analysis.

This creates a consistent foundation for process understanding, optimization and quality control.

Core capabilities

New component run-in

Use cutting data to support a stable and controlled start when introducing new components or processes. This helps establish reliable cutting conditions before moving into full production.

Data comparison

Compare cutting data across runs and batches to understand differences in cutting behavior. This supports evaluation of process changes and consistency over time.

Anomaly detection

Automatically identify deviations in cutting behavior to support early awareness of potential issues. This helps focus attention on cuts that require further investigation.

Live analysis and comparison

Monitor cutting behavior in real time and compare current processes against expected performance. This enables a faster response when deviations occur during machining.
