CoroBore 825/826 XL

    Requirement:

    • Tool pre-setter

Mounting of cartridge and fine boring head

    1. Fit cartridge to the elliptical interface placed on the cross slide at the fine boring head.
    2. Tighten cartridge screw to recommended torque. See handling instruction below to get the recommended tightening torque for the clamping screw.
    3. Fit o-ring to fine boring head.
    4. Fit fine boring head to slide.
    5. Tighten the two fine boring head screws. See the handling instruction below to get the recommended tightening torque.

    Mounting of slides

    CoroBore® 825 (diameter 148–315 mm (5.83–12.40 inch)) and CoroBore® 826 (diameter 148–300 mm(5.83–11.81 inch))

    1. Fit slide and counterweight to adaptor and place washers on clamping screws.
    2. Tighten clamping screws on slides finger-tight, tight so that the slide and counterweight.

    CoroBore® 825 (diameter 298–555 mm (11.73–21.85 inch)) and CoroBore® 826 (diameter 298–540 mm (11.73–21.26 inch))

    1. Fit slide and counterweight to bridge in the right position depending on diameter range.
    2. Place cup-springs on clamping screws.
    3. Tighten clamping screws on slide and counterweight finger-tight tight so they can be easily moved.
The cup spring pressure prevents the slide from moving when locking the slide screws, or by gravity when adjusting while tool mounted in the machine.

    CoroBore® 825 (diameter 538–1275 mm (21.18–50.20 inch)) and CoroBore® 826 (diameter 538–1260 mm (21.18–49.61 inch))

    1. Fit bridge extensions to bridge in the right position depending on diameter range.
    2. Tighten with screws, check the correct torque.
    3. Fit slide and counterweight on the bridge extensions in the right position depending on diameter range.
    4. Place cup-springs on clamping screws.
    5. Tighten clamping screws on slide finger-tight so that the slides and cartridges can be easily moved.

The cup spring pressure prevents the slide from moving when locking the slide screws, or by gravity when adjusting while tool mounted in the machine. Make sure the cup-spring is positioned according to the illustration.

Tool setting for CoroBore® XL single-edge fine boring tool

    1. Pre-stress clamping screws of the slides for smooth setting.
    2. Adjust with the slide setting screw until insert nose radius reaches set diameter.
    3. Always adjust the diameter from a smaller to a larger value.
    4. Tighten slide clamping screws with correct torque on slide. See handling instruction below. (can be done outside the tool pre-setter if needed).
    5. Fine adjustment of diameter: To adjust the fine boring mechanism, see handling instruction below
    1. Mount inserts.
    2. Place tool in pre-setter.
    3. Rotate tool until largest diameter on selected slide is found. Lock this position at the pre-setter.
    4. To set desired diameter on tool pre-setter:
      Rough adjustment of diameter (radially):
    5. Set the counterweight to correspond to the same slide scale value as the fine boring head.
    6. Tighten clamping screws on counterweight to recommended torque, see handling instruction below (can be done outside the tool pre-setter if needed).
    7. Check diameter and length of tool in the tool pre-setter. If possible, transfer tool data to machine control system.

Mounting of cartridge for back boring

    1. Remove grub screw from top cutting fluid outlet and attach it into the lower cutting fluid outlet.
    2. Mount slide extension when needed.
    3. Rotate cartridge 180° and fit cartridge to cross slide or slide extension.
    4. Tighten cartridge screw to recommended torque, see handling instruction below.
Note!: When slide extension is used, the longer screw supplied with the slide extension must be used! Direction of rotation must be reversed when back boring! Check tool length and length of the adaptor. Make sure the boring tool will go through the hole with the shoulder and that the front of the boring tool does not will collide with the component.

    CoroBore® XL (diameter 298-1275 mm
    (11.73–50.20 inch))

Recommended method for diameter setting is a pre-setter or using machine table as reference together with a pre-set gauge. The scale markings are helpful features for rough setting of the slides if a pre-setter is not available. The setting screw and cup spring are very useful features for easy and smooth setting of the slides, especially when the tool is mounted in the spindle.

The central pin is a good feature for setting of the slides if a pre-setter is not available: Measure the distance from the central pin to the cutting edge and deduct the radius of the central pin (8 mm (0.315 inch)) to get the radial position of the cutting edge.
