Mebane receives safety award from North Carolina Department of Labor

The safety activities in Mebane have helped the plant achieve almost two years with zero lost time injuries (LTI's.)

The Mebane Production Unit recently received a Certificate of Safety Achievement from the North Carolina Department of Labor. The award is given to companies that exhibit a reduction of injuries and the promotion of safer working conditions in 2018.

June was National Safety Month and the month ended with a very special award from the North Carolina Department of Labor. Cherie Berry, Commissioner of Labor, recently presented the Certificate of Safety Achievement to representatives from Sandvik Coromant at the Alamance County Safety Awards Banquet. Accepting the award certificate from Sandvik Coromant were Russell Ross, Alana Justice and Berny Kaminski.

“We are proud to receive this award from the North Carolina Department of Labor. At Sandvik Coromant, we focus on implementing solutions to prevent hazards and near misses which reduce lost time injuries (LTI’s). We do this in part because it is our company mission to keep our employees safe and tracking the number of hazards and near misses is an important metric to show our improvement in safety so that our employees know they are not at risk.”

Bernard Kaminski, Quality, EHS and Risk Manager, Mebane Production Unit
